Region I CCDF Meeting:
Partnering Across New England to Strengthen Child Care Systems
About the Meeting
The Region I CCDF Meeting: Partnering Across New England To Strengthen Child Care Systems will take place from Wednesday, May 8, through Friday, May 10, 2019, at the Portsmouth Courtyard by Marriott in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The meeting will allow ample opportunity for Region I states to share ideas, strategies, challenges, and questions across a variety of topics.
On Wednesday morning we will have a session on conducting interstate background checks (i.e., criminal, child abuse and neglect, sex offender) with lessons learned from states that have successfully implemented these checks.
For the remainder of the meeting we will cover the following topics: monitoring health and safety for providers in different states, workforce issues (including recruitment, retention, and supply-building), and information about the new Office of Child Care Onsite Monitoring and Oversight System. We are excited to be able to bring all the Region I states together and look forward to our discussions!
Who Should Attend
State Child Care and Development Fund administrators in the Region I states should attend this meeting. For the Wednesday morning interstate background check session, we encourage states to bring teams of individuals who are involved in various aspects of background checks, including those involving criminal justice, legal, and licensing issues; the child abuse and neglect registry; the sex offender registry; and state police agencies.
For the other sessions, we encourage states to bring teams of partners whose work is relevant to the topics covered. We also suggest that you consider bringing teams comprising staff members who work on licensing, subsidy, and workforce/professional development systems as well as anyone else you deem appropriate.
